Amber Sumrall, is an experienced Public Relations and Marketing professional. Aside from her
career, Amber is a freelance Brand Manager. Originally from the small town of Sumrall, MS, Amber has
proven to be anything but a small town girl.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Fashion
Merchandising from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2010, Amber acquired career expertise as a
Visual Merchandiser from an upscale department store in Orlando, FL. During this time her passion for
assisting women with the development of their personal appearance collided with the art of personal
branding, and at that moment she realized her purpose would go far past visual merchandising. It
wouldn’t be until she began assisting the Public Relations Manager with in-store special events that she
would discover she was ready for a career change. In 2012, Amber decided to pack up her life in Florida
and move back home to Mississippi where she enrolled in graduate school at her Alma Mater, The
University of Southern Mississippi.
Amber obtained a Master of Science degree in Public Relations in
2013, and was awarded the Ralph Pruett Scholarship as Top Master Student of her graduating class.
During her college tenure, she freelanced as a copywriter for local talent and church organizations while
interning with Public Relations and Marketing departments in the healthcare, education and
tourism/hospitality industries. It was the tourism industry that offered Amber her first career opportunity
and upon graduation, she accepted the role as Digital Media and Public Relations Assistant with the
Hattiesburg Convention Commission. This position allowed her to focus her creative energy on drafting
copy, social media strategies, and the event planning process for six different facilities. After almost two
years with the HCC, Amber decided to resign and venture out to explore new opportunities.
In March 2016, she left her hometown of Sumrall, MS (again!), and relocated to Atlanta, GA to seize
opportunities and pursue a successful career in Public Relations. There, she landed a position as the
Voter Education and Outreach Specialist for Fulton County- working to nurture enthusiasm for the
electoral process across Georgia. Amber was offered her current role at Southern Miss upon the
conclusion of the 2016 Presidential Election, which required her to relocate back to Mississippi in 2017.
She currently resides in Sumrall, MS with her super cute and energetic 10-year- old son, Isaiah.
Her keen eye for detail, creative ideas, risk-taking methods and ability to face challenges head-on, have successfully aided in her ability to provide her clients with exceptional service while exceeding their expectations. Amber is a current member of Delta Sigma Pi, Business Fraternity, Area Development Partnership (ADP),the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors- International (ACCED-I), Pine Belt YoungProfessionals (PBYP), Public Relations Association of Mississippi- Pine Belt Chapter (PRAM) and Salesand Marketing Professionals of the Pine Belt (SMP).She is committed to serving her community through volunteer efforts with her church, Christian Services, and other non-profit organizations.
